Specialized Programs Provided by School Districts
The attorneys at Frankel & Kershenbaum have represented families in successfully placing students with special needs in specialized programs provided by the school districts.
The Montgomery County, Pa., law firm of Frankel & Kershenbaum is dedicated to serving the needs of children and their families throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Founded by Emmy® Award-winning former weatherman, news anchor and investigative reporter Dave Frankel and former elementary school teacher Josh Kershenbaum, Frankel & Kershenbaum is the law firm of choice for Pennsylvania and New Jersey special education law, special needs advocacy, special needs estate planning, personal injury, children’s rights, higher education student rights and LGBT youth / adult rights. Dave and Josh bring a singular combination of passion, intellect and experience to their comprehensive special education and family-focused practice.
With a particular emphasis on special education law, the attorneys and staff of Frankel & Kershenbaum are passionate about helping children overcome disabilities to succeed in school. Prior to consulting with Frankel & Kershenbaum, many parents are unaware of the full array of educational opportunities available to their children with special needs. Dave and Josh work closely with parents, students and educational and mental health professionals to obtain the best possible results for their clients. This may mean obtaining private school placement at the public school district’s expense, or developing or enforcing an Individualized Education Program (IEP) in the child’s home district. The compensation to which a family is entitled may include attorneys’ fees, an educational trust fund, reimbursement for past educational expenses and tuition for appropriate private school placements.
Beyond special education law, Frankel & Kershenbaum has helped clients resolve a wide variety of legal matters. These include special needs estate planning, personal injury, children’s rights, higher education student rights and LGBT youth / adult rights. As a former broadcast journalist, Dave also offers legal services to broadcasters and other creative professionals. Both Dave and Josh have been recognized by Thomson Reuters, published annually in Philadelphia Magazine, as Super Lawyers® Rising Stars. Rising Stars are those attorneys who have been selected by their peers as the state’s top up-and-coming lawyers. No more than 2.5 percent of eligible lawyers in Pennsylvania achieve Rising Stars status.
