The fight for equal treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) families and individuals has fortunately seen much progress in recent years. Several states have legalized same-sex marriage, while many more recognize civil unions, protect domestic partnerships, prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and otherwise protect the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people. Transgendered Individuals and the Law
Transgender individuals are unfortunately the least protected members of the LGBT community. Transgendered residents of Pennsylvania and New Jersey often require experienced legal assistance with matters such as gender and name changes on driver’s licenses, birth certificates, social security cards, school and workplace IDs and passports. Those with non-conforming gender identities are also frequently subjected to harassment and discrimination and are presented with unique challenges when it comes to legal concerns such as estate planning and marriage recognition and dissolution.
