Gillian is a seasoned attorney who has been working with children and young adults since 2004, first as a teacher before becoming a lawyer. Prior to joining Raffaele & Associates, Gillian was a supervising attorney at the Defender Association of Philadelphia. Gillian worked in the Child Advocacy Unit, where she represented children and young adults in all stages of dependency proceedings. Representation included matters related to dependency, such as education, truancy, school discipline, adoption, and delinquency. Gillian also trained and supervised attorneys, including specific trainings in education law for children in foster care. This followed Gillian’s experience at the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender representing dependent children as a law guardian attorney. Gillian’s tenure in child welfare practice involved almost daily court appearances and makes her extremely experienced and adept in trial advocacy.
Gillian has also practiced education law as a fellow with the Education Law Center in Philadelphia. Prior to law school, Gillian was an algebra teacher in rural South Louisiana with the Teach For America program.
Gillian graduated from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2010 with recognition in Outstanding Oral Advocacy and from Pennsylvania State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
