Susanne M. Wherry

Of Counsel

Susanne@mykidslawyer.com

Susanne has a passion for advocating for those with learning challenges and related issues. She is now exclusively devoting her legal practice to these matters. It is Susanne’s desire to educate students and their caregivers regarding their rights, as well as to counsel them regarding the best manner to access those rights to optimize their child’s academic success and experience.

Susanne is especially proud of the long-standing relationships she has developed with her clients. She believes these relationships result from the respect and commitment she gives each client, and the recognition that litigation, regardless of its nature, can be deeply taxing on an individual. She believes her job as legal counsel is not only to achieve the optimal legal outcome for her client, but to assist the client in navigating the legal process to mitigate the financial and emotional stress associated with litigation.

Like her colleagues, Susanne measures success by her client’s level of satisfaction at the close of their relationship and by such measure has a proven history of success.

Experience

Although Susanne has considered Philadelphia her home for many years, her legal career began in Atlanta, Georgia, where she served as a staff clerk for the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. After her clerkship, she worked as an associate for one of the most prestigious domestic litigation firms in Atlanta. There, she focused her practice on representing individuals in high-profile, high net-worth, and complex income-domestic matters.

Once returning to Philadelphia, Susanne represented individuals in civil legal matters while at center city and suburban Philadelphia law firms. Susanne then served as in-house counsel for a Pennsylvania licensed private school for children with special needs, where she focused on instituting best practices to ensure compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Education guidelines and state and federal law. After this work, she resumed practice in the private sector. She returned to representing clients in a wide array of civil litigation matters including, but not limited to, employment law and business disputes. She also continued to advise both private and public schools, as well as individuals, regarding school law and policy matters.

Susanne graduated from Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law where she received the Barrister’s Award for Outstanding Oral Advocacy. As a visiting law student in Georgia, she received academic honors. While still in law school, she interned as an assistant solicitor in Georgia, aiding the county attorneys in prosecuting misdemeanor offenses, and as a legal intern at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia. She is a member of the Pennsylvania and Georgia bars.

In keeping with the firm’s culture, community service is a priority to Susanne. She is committed to supporting schools and programs for children with special needs and has co-founded a non-profit, “The Havertown Village Project,” which is an organization dedicated to providing support, resources, and education regarding adolescent mental health and related disorders.

Susanne lives in Delaware County with her husband and their two children.
